Terms of Service
Effective 18 August 2026
These terms govern your use of MixLabs Studio, operated by Mixlabs Creative Private Limited ("MixLabs", "we", "us"). By creating an account or being added to a project, you agree to them.
1. What MixLabs is
A workspace for film post-production: hosting drafts, running review with timecoded notes, tracking milestones, moving turnovers between departments, and delivering finished work.
We provide the software. We do not acquire any interest in what you put in it.
2. Accounts
You must be 18 or older. You're responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at info@mixlabscreative.com if you believe it's been compromised.
Project owners control who joins their projects and what each member can do. Adding someone means giving them access to that project's content — check the role before you send the invitation.
3. Your content stays yours
You retain all rights in everything you upload. Footage, audio, scripts, documents, notes — all of it remains yours or your clients'.
You grant us a licence limited to one purpose: to store, process, encode and display your content so the service works for you and the people you've given access to. That licence is non-exclusive, worldwide (our servers are in the US), and ends when you delete the content or close your account.
To be explicit about what this licence is not:
- We do not use your content to train machine-learning models.
- We do not licence, sell, or share it with anyone.
- We do not use it for marketing, promotion, or showreels without your separate written permission.
- We do not review it except when responding to your support request or investigating a specific security incident.
We understand that unreleased material is commercially sensitive and often contractually embargoed. We treat all customer content as confidential and will not disclose it except where legally compelled — and we will tell you if that happens, unless prohibited.
4. What you're responsible for
You confirm that you hold the rights to what you upload, or permission from whoever does. You will not use MixLabs to store or distribute material that is unlawful, infringing, or that you have no right to hold.
You will not attempt to breach the service's security, access projects you haven't been given access to, or interfere with other customers' use.
If you are uploading a client's footage, it is your responsibility to ensure your agreement with them permits using a third-party service. Many production agreements require prior approval; that's between you and your client.
5. Plans, payment and cancellation
Paid plans bill monthly or annually in advance. Fees are stated at the time of purchase and exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep access until then. We do not refund partial periods, except where required by law.
Storage limits apply per plan. If you exceed yours, we will ask you to upgrade or reduce usage. We will not delete your files for exceeding a limit without telling you first — we will restrict new uploads instead.
Price changes apply from your next renewal, with at least 30 days' notice.
Non-payment: if a payment fails, we'll retry and contact you. Accounts more than 30 days overdue may be suspended. We will not delete content for at least 60 days after suspension, so you have time to retrieve it.
6. Getting your data out
You can download your content at any time while your account is active, file by file. There is no bulk export yet — if you need a whole project extracted, email us and we will help.
Before closing an account, take what you need. On closure we delete content within 30 days, as described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Availability
We work to keep MixLabs available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and we'll give notice where we can.
We do not currently offer a contractual uptime commitment. If you need one, talk to us before subscribing rather than assuming it.
Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable. MixLabs is a workspace for work in progress, not an archive of record. This is genuine advice, not only a legal disclaimer: masters should exist somewhere you control.
8. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time by emailing us.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, is used unlawfully, or is more than 30 days overdue. Except for serious breaches, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. If we close your account without cause, we'll refund any prepaid unused period.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows:
- The service is provided "as is". We make no warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost profits, lost business, or the cost of reproducing lost work.
- Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.
Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Read clause 9 properly. If MixLabs lost a project, our liability would be capped at roughly a year's subscription — which will not approach the value of the footage. That is normal for software at this price, and it is exactly why clause 7 says to keep your own copies. If your project's value needs a different arrangement, talk to us about a negotiated agreement.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we'll email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect. If you disagree, close your account before then; continuing to use MixLabs means you accept the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Ranchi, Jharkhand have exclusive jurisdiction.
This is the ordinary position for a company registered in India, and it is the cheapest forum for us to operate in. Larger customers sometimes require different terms; if that applies to you, contact us before subscribing and we can discuss a negotiated agreement rather than these standard terms.
